Question 6

Question 6
Tell me how you’d know if there was a problem with your anti-lock braking system.

Answer 6
The ABS warning light will stay on if there is a fault with the anti-lock braking system.

Extra 6
Anti-lock Braking System is a safety feature in a car. When you brake heavily your wheels could lock, and you’ll be skidding.

When you’re skidding you don’t have very much control.

ABS detects when your wheels are about to lock and then releases and re-applies the brakes – so that you’re still slowing down, but the wheels are not locked – and you can still steer.

When you turn your ignition on, warning lights will appear on the dashboard. When you turn your engine on the warning lights disappear.

If a warning light stays on, that means there is a problem. So, if your ABS warning light stays on there’s a fault with your Anti-lock Braking System.
