Lesson 10, Topic 1
In Progress

Overtaking Stationary Vehicles – Priorities

Priorities when overtaking stationary vehicles:

Parked vehicle your side – If the parked vehicle is on your side of the road then oncoming traffic has priority.

Parked vehicle the other side – If the vehicle is on the other side of the road then you have priority, be careful not to assume oncoming traffic will give way. Hold back if you are unsure until you see them slowing down in which case you can proceed.

Parked vehicles both sides – When you have obstructions on both sides of the road then neither you nor the oncoming traffic has priority. Be prepared to give way and don’t assume the oncoming car will. Remember, if you give way you have taken control of the entire situation and eradicated any uncertainty.
