Where there are two lanes or room for two lanes, unless signs or road markings say
otherwise you should:

1. Turning left – Use the left-hand lane.
2. Following the road ahead – Use the left-hand lane.
3. Turning right – Use the right-hand lane (position early).

Three Lane Approach

Unless signs or road markings say otherwise you should.

1. Turning Left – Use the left-hand lane.
2. Following the road ahead – Use the left or middle lane.
3. Turning right – Use the right-hand lane (position early).

Entering a One-Way Street

1. Turning right into a one-way street – Turn into the right-hand lane.
2. Turning left into a one-way street – Turn into the left-hand lane.

When in a One-Way Street

1. Turning left – Use the left-hand lane.
2. Following the road ahead – Use any convenient lane.
3. Turning right – Use the right-hand lane (position early).

Early positioning is particularly important in a one-way street. Traffic can move quickly
and vehicles may overtake on the left or right.
